‎"This case reminds us all of the need to address immigration reform. As we have stated, we believe any solution should include the following three principles: the commandment to 'love thy neighbor,' the importance of keeping families intact and the federal government’s obligation to secure its border." LDS Church spokesman Scott Trotter.

I have struggled with what I have considered the LDS Church's leniency on their immigration "points" but I think this statement sums up an ideal outcome.

Obviously, this is where I think a LOT of us struggle. Is our compassion saying "love thy neighbor," and wanting families to be together; Warring with our need to protect our own interests which these immigrants don't seem to care too much about. And it turns some VERY compassionate people into mean, un empathetic people.

American Soldier

I’m just tryin’ to be a father, raise a daughter and a son
Be a lover to their mother, everythin’ to everyone
Up and at ‘em bright and early, I’m all business in my suit
Yeah I’m dressed up for success, from my head down to my boots
I don’t do it for money, there’s bills that I can’t pay
I don’t do it for the glory, I just do it anyway
Providing for our future’s, my responsibility
Yeah I’m real good under pressure, being all that I can be
And I can’t call in sick on Mondays when the weekend’s been too strong
I just work straight through the holidays, and sometimes all night long
You can bet that I stand ready, when the wolf growls at the door
Hey I’m solid, hey I’m steady, hey I’m true down to the core.

And I will always do my duty no matter what the price
I’ve counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice
Oh and I don’t want to die for you, but if dyin’s asked of me
I’ll bear that cross with honor, cause freedom don’t come free.

I’m an American Soldier an American
Beside my brothers and my sisters, I will proudly take a stand
When liberty’s in jeopardy, I will always do what’s right

I’m out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight
American Soldier, I’m and American, Soldier.

An American Soldier an American
Beside my brothers and my sisters, I will proudly take a stand
When liberty’s in jeopardy, I will always do what’s right
I’m out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight
American Soldier, I’m an American, an American, an American, Soldier.

This is what matters today: I understand that government shut downs are part of the cog workings in a country like ours. There are BOUND to be hiccups. But the "Parents" of our Country need to make sure their charge is provided for FIRST. If the people they are responsible for are having to wait to get paid, they need to as well.

This affects my family personally in 2 ways: 1) there are people close to me who are going to suffer 1st hand. 2) it makes my family's security and safety that much less stable.
